I have been enjoying the summer -- and also enjoying wearing sweaters on some of the cool mornings we've had lately.
My main objective lately has been to be mommy's shadow. I help her with a lot of things, even taking care of the fish outside.
We had a fun weekend of playtime and snuggling. Daddy was in the Carolinas for work.
Mom is leaving today on another trip, and daddy is coming home and Grandma D is coming to visit. On Saturday Gma and Gpa Poppins are coming to stay with me and spoil me rotten for two weeks while mom and dad go on vacation in Hawaii. They said they'll take me again when I get a little bigger.

C'mon, Friends!
Mom and I had a good weekend together. Friday we had a burrito date at our favorite little place for girl bonding. Then we came home and played with Greta. I killed a cricket and was quite proud of myself, even though I called it a "SpIder!"
Saturday was a busy day of errands with mommy. We got my haircut at a really fun place with little 50s style cars that kids can sit in while they get their hair trimmed. Mom says I don't look like a shaggy dog anymore. :) She gave up on growing out my bangs for now, she says she likes to see my face and so the bangs win!
On Saturday night we went to a mom's group summer cook-out. It was so fun. I LOVED the bounce-house, ate a lot of watermelon and carrots (with dip!), and liked the ice cream cake. Mostly, it was fun to play with all of my little friends and burn off some energy. And, I liked drinking water out of a big person bottle and taking the top of and off one million times.
Today we went to church and I love it there. The ladies who help in my classroom are so sweet. Today they read some books to me while mom jammed during worship -- she said they had some great new music today! We are lucky our church is so close to our house, and the people there are like family. It is fun to go every Sunday and I think we all enjoy it!
Daddy was on a mission Friday through lunchtime today. When he got home we did some projects around the house and also went to an antique store. We hooked up our new TV upstairs (we sold the big, huge one on Craigslist on only one day!) and mommy and daddy can't find the satellite remote anywhere. They were joking that I hid it in the same place where I hid daddy's wallet at Easter time. Dad has even looked through the trash! Will it turn up? My lips are sealed.
Mom and dad are blown away by my expanding vocabulary. Today when we were antiquing, I was ready to leave and I said, "Come on, Friends!" And they both bust out laughing. I just wanted them to hurry up and come with me out the door, I wasn't trying to be funny, but hey, I guess it's good that I can make them laugh!

Freak out post from Momma C
Yikes, it has been a while since my last update. Emily is growing like a weed. She is the perfect blend of both of us -- little bits of humor, lots of laughter, and a little (or big...) streak of stubbornness at times. She is interacting great with other kids at school and in other social settings. We continue to be proud of her great behavior and calm spirit in social settings.
Her vocab has exploded. She now talks in short sentences -- some of our faves:
"I don't like it." (at Thai restaurant in late july when aunt deedee visited)
"I want to go there."
"Where's (fill in the blank)?" Or "Where'd (name) go?" Often asking for grandma or aunt deedee.
"I want some."
"Go away, Gigi, don't touch me!" (This is pretty funny -- the dog will often put her nose by Emily while she's eating and Emily will not tolerate her begging!)
Lots of short thoughts, but so fun to hear!
Last night we heard "I'm stuck," "I broke it," and "I want more cookies.".......
She's in size 6 shoes and 2T clothes. She loves her crocs and I think she has a fetish for shoes. She also loves it when I paint her toenails. "PINK. Pink. Look mommy, pink paint!!"
Night time ritual is still bath, a book or two, and then bed, around 8:15 -- with binky and lots of blankies. She loves to curl up and snuggle, just like me!
Jeremy and I are going to Hawaii for two weeks in September and my parents will stay with her at our house. We're so excited for this vacation and we're also excited for Em to get some quality time with mom and dad. We also hope they enjoy relaxing at our house while they're away from home.
Emily loves to be outside. She regularly checks the fish pond, enjoys throwing Greta's tennis ball, and likes it when we "whistle grass" and play in the hammock. She's a huge fan of her water table, too. Jeremy and I often daydream about expanding our balcony into a full deck and adding a hot tub. We sometimes sneak over to our neighbor's hot tub, and Emily enjoys the lights and the jets. Maybe next year we'll add our own!
Still loving Goddard School and are amazed at all the things Emily is learning about! She seems to love it there and asks to "Go to school" in the morning and routinely talks about her little friends (especially Kyle and Luke -- so funny) while we're driving around or playing at home.
A few weekends ago we took Em on her first canoe ride. She did awesome. She filled the time by playing with her little sand pail (which, to us, felt like dragging an anchor!), looking at trees and rocks on the shore, and munching on a granola bar. She was also thrilled to drink out of daddy's nalgene bottle!
Speaking of drinking, Emily only uses cups at home -- no more sippy's. We have some drips and spills, but she is doing awesome. She also prefers to sit in a big girl chair instead of her booster seat...but still uses the booster on occasion.
On the potty training front, we will pursue that more aggressively after our Hawaii trip. For now, she occasionally uses the big girl potty, and sometimes successfully. Mostly I think she asks to go potty for attention.........which kind of cracks me up.
Emily eats like a bird in the mornings, but she can really put away the food at lunch and dinner! We went out with our mom's group the other night and he downed a kids meal, eating maybe 7 or 8 dino nuggets and probably 12 oz of milk, only toying with her french fries.
I'll try to update more often. My work schedule, including travel, has been very hectic, and I'm trying to spend less time online and more time being with the ones I love. Sorry for leaving any of you in the dark!
