Look, I'm a monkey!

One of my favorite things to do is play with the island in the kitchen. I open and close the doors and mom and dad leave a lot of fun things in there for me, such as mini loaf pans, small cans of food and other containers. It's fun to play "kitchen" and practice all of my new skills.

Last week we took a family fieldtrip to visit some friends at a zoo in Maryland. It was so much fun! I got to feed the goats and deer with daddy, and also splash my hands in the Koi pond. I even tried to cling to the fence like a monkey!


In other news, I'm starting to wear my sunglasses more regularly. Mom and I got to do a little shopping last weekend before I left for Wisconsin with Dad. We're staying with Grandma and Grandpa B for a little over a week while mom is traveling to Florida and St. Louis. I'll have to post pictures after our trip.

No Naps

I didn't nap at daycare yesterday. And, last night we went for a bike ride. Mom strapped on my uber-geek helmet (she bought one the size of Lake Michigan to protect my brain) and dad took me sailing down a huge hill at top speed. It was so exhilarating that I fell asleep! Yup. TKO (totally knocked out -- for people who are not in my generation). They brought me home and put me straight to bed, which lasted about 15 minutes and then I was up for round II, including a bath, more play time and some stories.

And, today was day two of the drama......day two without a nap at daycare! (My mom says this is nuts, but I think it's fun -- lots of play time!)

After "school" today, my neighbor Lindsay came over. She played with me and helped me eat my dinner. She will be in second grade this year. I will miss her when we move because she is a nice friend. She's also really funny.

Brownie points for dad today: One of the doors at daycare had a loose hinge and so he brought tools to school with me and fixed it when we got there. Isn't that cool! He is so handy! I hope I can learn some of those skills, too.

Walking status: Daddy claims he saw my first few steps today. Will I surprise him with more steps tomorrow? We'll see!

Here are a few photos from when we were at Grandma Diane's house in June. Her house is beautiful and has a lot of character. It's about 100 times older than me. There are stained glass windows, high ceilings, and there is lots of pretty woodwork. The best part is there were lots of little places for me to explore and discover.

And, below are a few pictures of the new house that my family will move to in Ohio. I am really excited to have a new house because I know that means I will get to meet new friends. Plus, this one has a big swingset!!!

Overdue Updates

Mom and Dad have been encouraging me to use a spoon. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't.
Either way, I ALWAYS share with Greta. We're best friends forever. Duh. (Speaking of sharing...Dad shared his hair-cutting skills with me, check out my bangs...uh-oh)

I'm practicing using soft voices and LOUD VOICES. I love to open my mouth wide and laugh really loud. Mom and Dad think sometimes I laugh like a little gremlin, and I make them giggle!

I like to walk around the coffee table, climb the stairs, push my walking toys and crawl at the speed of lightning. Occasionally I can be found in very unusual places, like behind a desk, or underneath a chair. And, I am drawn like a magnet to electrical cords and outlets, so Captain Safety (aka Dad) has been working overtime!

Dad got me a bike trailer and we ride to daycare together. It's so fun!!! Sometimes I wear my helmet, but they call me Houdini because I like to take it off.

And, other than that...I'm just working on getting more teeth (I already have a whole mouthful!) and am soaking up play time left and right.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I loved the 4th of July. Go America! We went to a party and I got to listen to a guitar concert and even touch the strings of a real guitar. Mom and I were jamming. After the sun went down we watched the fireworks. I pointed at them and thought they were spectacular!



I enjoy yoga balls...and still adore bath time. Splashing is the best! Laughing and giggling in the tub are the best ways to end the day!

And, I try to help dad with all of his domestic chores. He is home for a few more weeks before he goes to school to learn the ins and outs of his new air refueling plane. We do everything together -- make coffee, fold laundry, wash dishes and ride bikes. My dad is a cool guy, and mommy says he should start a business because a lot of other moms out there would pay big bucks for my daddy to be a coach for other dads! I guess some guys don't know how to do dishes or laundry or...all that good stuff! My dad is cool.

Anyway, it has been a busy few weeks. I should probably rest up.
