Emily, This is Your Muddah

Hi Emily,
This post is from your mom. I captured a moment in time today -- of you sleeping like a little angel with your "Goodnight Moon" book from Aunt Dorothy. You took a lovely two hour nap and I am convinced it is because you talked non-stop for 30 minutes before you fell asleep. Perhaps you learned that from Auntie D, too?

The other picture is from last night, when you showed daddy that you are a big girl by attempting to eat your toothbrush. You funny bunny!

I love you, little bean. You are my sunshine, and my Goodnight Moon. :)

XO,
mommy

Red Robin and Random

Last night we left our house so someone could come look at it. Mommy wanted to pack a picnic, but we ran out of time to do that and so we took an adventure to Red Robin and Costco. I got a baby hamburger and some milk and mandarin oranges. Mommy and Daddy were impressed by how quickly and efficiently I am chewing. I've got a lot of teeth now and I am very good at taking small bites of things. I'm also getting better at drinking from my sippy cup.

Lately, I fall asleep reading a book in my crib. My favorite book to sleep with is Goodnight Moon from my aunt Dorothy. I look at it in the morning, too, when I first wake up.

It's a beautiful day today, so I hope we can go for a stroller ride tonight with Greta. I love to watch the birds and flowers and leaves as Greta walks beside me. She is my best friend so far. She really loves me and is very gentle with me. I guess you could say she's my big sister, even though she is a puppy. She is three and I am one and we are in love. :)

A few pictures of my First Birthday Weekend

Last weekend was fun. The weather was warm and beautiful, just like the day I entered this world. That was a long day and I know my mom says often that she is glad that part is over! :)

Saturday we went to Sam's Club and tooled around the aisles, good times in the stroller. Daddy even did something romantic before we went there -- he took mom to the Starbucks drive-thru, she loves that!! (I don't understand it, but big people love coffee. Why? They say I'm too little to drink it so I don't know what's so special about that brown juice!). Afterwards, we went to the airport and daddy got to fly an acrobatic plane. It was super awesome. He got to do rolls, loops and all kinds of exciting tricks! Mom and I got to watch from the ground.

Here's a picture of my daddy with his 'chute pack. He looked pretty good up there in the sky!
Saturday night we had a party with my "Aunt Sue" and "Uncle Len" and Sue's parents, Esther and Pete. It was so special! They came over to my patio and Mom and Dad grilled marinated pork tenderloin and made a salad, Len and Sue brought fresh fruit, and Pete and Esther made homemade potato salad. Mmm, mm, yum! For dessert we had lemon raspberry cake. It was a great night and I'm so glad I got to spend it with them!

Here's a good picture with Mom, Sue, Esther and Me! Four generations of friends forever. :)

Mom spent part of the day depressed because she didn't make my first cake. "Oh, I'm a slacker mom, moan moan blah blah blah." Something like that...but I liked the cake just fine! She told me that she took cake classes and when I get bigger we can make all kinds of fun cakes together! That will be fun!
On Sunday we went to Sue's house and played with some of their friends. We got to listen to Uncle Len's blues music, play bocce ball and eat delicious food. I enjoyed crawling on a blanket, riding my airplane, listening to music and pulling wipes out of a container (fascinating!).
When we got home from the party, I got to open some birthday presents. I got a cell phone (toy!) and some clothes, a few books and some squeaker sneakers (they will squeak when I walk!)

On Monday, it was Memorial Day! We went to a picnic with the Campbell family and I got to see my friend Amelia. We had beautiful weather and I took a super long nap and then got to sit in my new red chair.
Here's a picture of me with my little buddy Amelia. She was one of my very first friends!
Tomorrow I go to the doctor for my one year appointment. Mom and Dad already turned my carseat around so I can ride facing the front now. I like it much better that way!

My new daycare is getting a little better now that I am making friends. And, mom and dad are keeping our house crystal clean because we're planning to move to Ohio. It's going to be exciting! We will be sad to move away from so many nice people, but we are excited to be much closer to our relatives.

Here are some of the biggest milestones from my first year:
*Born
*Tripled in weight
*Learned to roll, sit, scoot, crawl and pull myself up
*Learned to blow raspberries, say Dada, Uh-oh, and Gigi (for Greta) and lots and lots of other sounds (except for Mama)
*Spent more than about 1/4 of the year in Wisconsin, even though I'm a resident of PA!
*Made friends in multiple states
*Fell in love with two really amazing parents -- amazing because of how much they love me
*Survived all of my mom's hair colors and hair cuts..............
*Maintained a blog
*Learned to fly my Mickey Mouse plane

I'm excited for year two. Just think how much I will learn between now and then! Look out world, Here Comes Emily Keyes!!!

Da Beach

Let me out!

We went to the beach last weekend. It was my very first trip to the ocean and I'm not sure that I liked it. I got to cruise all over in my polka dot stroller. We went up and down the boardwalk at Wildwood, NJ, and we also cruised around Avalon, Stone Harbor and Cape May.

Here are some pictures from the trip.

PS, I turn "1" on Sunday and mom says I get a cupcake. YUM!
