Sooo Sleepy

Space sure is at a premium in here. I keep kicking and pounding, but no one is ready to let me out. Maybe if mom would just sit still for a day instead of running around like a crazy lady, I could chill out for a day and not be so antsy. However, this little boy I met in my lamaze class got to come out six weeks early. His mommy was sure surprised. I think he's lucky, now he can stretch out. I'm sure our mommies will let us play this summer.

Tonight we took a trip to the grocery store and it took her forever to waddle around. We hadn't been in a really long time because it's so hard for her, so tonight we stocked up on lots of yummy things. Yogurt, grapes, honey turkey, whole grains rices and pastas, even some raspberry pomegranate dressing and mixed greens. It will be a treat to have fresh food around. I can't wait to eat big people food some day and see the things mommy cooks.

Daddy left for another week and I miss him already. It's not the same when he's not here to pat mommy's belly and make funny jokes. I think mom and greta go into a funk each time he leaves.

Well, I think it's past my bedtime. I better stop my kicking for a while and save up some energy for tomorrow. Another day in this little tropical pressure cooker.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. Mommy and daddy tried to tease me last night. They turned all the lights out so it was really, really dark. Then daddy played with a flashlight against mommy's tummy and he could feel me kicking by the light. They're strange!

Nite nite.

My new room

From the sounds of it, my new room is coming along quite nicely. Mommy and daddy got lots of help from grandma judy and grandma diane. They painted the town pink! Here's a picture of their work to date.

Mommy's shadow

My mom is kind of self-concious about how big I'm getting. So, here's a silhouette of her. I'm waving, but you really can't see me yet.

Peek-a-boo!

I'm still kicking!

Today mommy went to the doctor's office to see a nurse midwife. The midwife said I'm facing head-down and she made it sound like that is a good thing. Apparently I like to stand on my head! Mommy also went to a CPR and first-aid class over the weekend and learned all kinds of ways to save my life if I do anything stupid, like swallow a grape, fall out of a tree, or trip on Greta's leash. She's going crazy with all the stuff she is learning about.

I'm scheduled to arrive about nine weeks from tomorrow. That's good, because it's getting pretty cozy in here. I'm getting really excited because I hear that lots of mom and dad's friends have little babies, or babies on the way. There are going to be so many girls and boys that I can be friends with all over the world. Mommy even has one friend that will live in Hawaii when her baby is born. She keeps telling me that we will take a trip there someday so I can get a little hula skirt. That is so cool. It sounds like a pretty place! Maybe daddy can even teach me to surf a in a little tiny bikini. Who-hoo!

Suppose I should rest for a little while. Talk to you later!

Going Green & Staying Happy

Lately my mommy has been going a little granola on me. She's asking strangers about cloth diapers, is pleading with daddy to consider cloth diapers, and...you get the idea. She's even talking about going in with two other families on a CSA share so she can nibble on organic produce for half of the year. She seems happy though, and feels like it's a small way to protect the earth for my generation. I am starting to wonder what this place called earth is really all about.

Daddy is home!! I heard his voice and felt him pat mommy's belly. I started kicking a lot! I'm so happy when he's home, I think I'm going to be a daddy's girl. He even brought home a bib that says "fly girl" and told mommy he is excited to teach me to fly someday. Mommy was trying to teach him all the things she has learned in her baby classes. He might need the Cliff's note version to study later - it was a lot!

Last week mommy went to her last "baby care basics" class and learned about emotional health. She also went to a class called "the happiest baby" and learned ways to calm me if I'm fussy. She even got a CD with strange white noises - like womb sounds, rain storms and hair driers. This is going to be fun...
